3 End-of-Summer Events in San Diego

The end of summer in San Diego is drawing nearer, but it’s not over yet. There are still a few more weeks to dip out of work early, enjoy that last BBQ party of the summer, and plan for Labor Day weekend celebrations. Here are our favorite ways to spend the end of summer in San Diego.

Sand Castle Contest at Broadway Pier & Pavilion

Although they are temporary, these impressive sand castle sculptures are not to be missed. This Labor Day Weekend, the 7th Annual Sand Sculpting Challenge will take place over four competition-filled days. Sand sculpture enthusiasts come from all over the world to witness some serious castle-making, live entertainment, and gourmet food trucks.

Summer Evening Events at Balboa Park

Balboa Park is that place in town that always has something going on, regardless of the season. But in the summer, it’s the go-to spot for evening activities in San Diego. Check out the Japanese Friendship Garden until 7:00 p.m. daily, the Museum of Photography Arts until 8:00 p.m. daily, and the Twilight Concert Series every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m.
