Employee Spotlight: General Manager, Kevin Konopasek

The best part of The Dana on Mission Bay is its wonderful staff. We sat down with our General Manager, Kevin Konopasek, to get to know him a little better and learn why he’s such an important part of the Dana family. We asked him some questions about his time on property, his favorite thing about The Dana, and some fun facts about him.

How long have you been with The Dana on Mission Bay?

I’ve been with The Dana on Mission Bay for 15 Years, all serving as the General Manager.

What is your favorite thing about The Dana?

I like the diversity of the employees, the serenity of Mission Bay, and the excitement of watching guests from around the world create memories at our property.

What is your professional background?

I started as a dishwasher at age 16 and never left the hospitality industry. I came up through the food and beverage side and have been a General Manager since 1992.

What are you most passionate about?

I have varied interests, including tennis, vintage-furniture hunting, travel, food, wine, and cooking! I try to stay up to date on the latest dining and wine trends, and I enjoy sharing influences and culinary inspiration from different regions with our chef at the Firefly Eatery & Bar.

Personal mantra?

When hard work seems like fun, you know you’ve found your place in the world.

Fun fact?

I own 13 vintage guitars, but I enjoy playing the piano.
