Our Guide to Point Loma

A Peaceful Seaside Community in San Diego

Described as "where California began", Point Loma is a charming and peaceful seaside community located just down the road from us. Home to the Naval Base, Point Loma Nazarene University, Cabrillo National Monument, and a ton of dining & shopping; Point Loma continues to draw visitors from all areas. We've put together a list of our Point Loma favorites, for your reading pleasure. Read on below and discover something new!

Liberty Station

A former Naval Training Center, Liberty Station still holds the old-school Navy charm and order, but instead of physical training and recruits lining the dining halls; the center now houses restaurants, food stalls, shopping, art, and so much more. We recommend all those new to the city stop by Liberty Station for a visit, with so much to do see and do, you can easily spend a full day here. One of our favorites is First Fridays, a free event that takes place on the first Friday over every month from 5 pm - 9 pm. Peruse the art galleries, studios and museums, and stay for the live music!

Cabrillo National MonumentA Large Body Of Water

Take a drive to renowned Cabrillo National Monument and partake in a fun-filled day in Point Loma! The monument is a testament to Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, who was the first European to navigate the California coast. In addition to viewing the monument itself and learning more about the Spanish explorer, Cabrillo National Monument houses an array of points of interest ensuring a full day of adventure and learning for the whole family! Explore the Point Loma Tide Pools and discover all kinds of marine creatures and natural wonders. We recommend wearing slip-proof shoes that are good for walking, bringing a sweater and checking the tide schedule prior to your visit. Don't forget to also check out the Old Point Loma Lighthouse!

Sunset Cliffs

Considered one of the best places to view the sunset over the horizon in San Diego, Sunset Cliffs is a must visit for those looking to end their day in San Diego on a calming note. Opt to stay parked overlooking the cliffs (we recommend getting there well before sunset as parking is scarce) or walking down the cliffs themselves (with caution). Either way, this spot is perfect for couples, families or friends alike and very Instagrammable!
