Fall Fun at The Dana
Fall is far and away one of the best times to visit San Diego. Not only do we have tons of fun autumn activities and Halloween happenings in store right here at our Mission Bay hotel, but the city itself is teeming with events the whole family will enjoy. “Dive-In” Spooky Movies
What could be more fun than watching free, family-friendly Halloween flicks in the heated outdoor pool? All season long, guests are welcome to take a dip in our Tropical Pool while enjoying spooky silver-screen favorites on our big poolside projection display. We can’t think of a better way to both cool off AND get the chills at the same time! Check with our front desk for showings.
Trick-or-Treating
Young guests are welcome to don their most festive finery, then dash around The Dana collecting all the sweet treats their hearts desire. On-property trick-or-treating will be held daily from Oct. 27 – 31 from 1 – 6 pm all around the hotel, so be sure to pack your little one’s favorite ghoulish getup.
Pumpkin Carving Contest
The team at The Dana will once again be entering their most ghoulish gourds in our annual pumpkin carving runoff. Entries will be displayed in the lobby, lending a spooky and festively fun air to our seasonal celebrations. Guests determine the victor, too — so be sure to vote for your favorites when checking in or over on our social media accounts. Make sure to give us a follow to stay updated!
October is Kids Free Month
October in San Diego means one thing for families: it’s Kids Free Month! Many of the city’s top attractions offer free admission to children throughout the month, making it an ideal time for family adventures. We’re getting in on the fun, too. Our “Kids Eat Free” special is happening at Firefly Eatery & Bar all month long!
Halloween Around Town

There’s plenty of fun to be found all around San Diego this October. Our neighbors at SeaWorld are hosting not just one, but two seasonal spookfests this Halloween. The Halloween Spooktacular is a family-friendly event, while the Howl-O-Scream celebration is a supremely scary experience for those looking for cold-blooded chills. Guests can take our complimentary shuttle to both (just make sure to sign up at our front desk)! Belmont Park is also hosting their annual Fall Fest. Kids will enjoy the free trick-or-treating every Sunday while adults can indulge in stunning views, and festive beer tastings every Friday night.
Scary-Good Cocktail Specials
Eat, drink, and be scary this spooky season at Firefly! Get in the fall spirit with some boozy spirits – including our Vampiro cocktail, featuring Cazadores blanco tequila, prickly pear puree, lime juice, and agave for just $13. If you prefer something non-alcoholic, our autumnal mocktail, the Harvest Moon, crafted with pineapple juice, guava puree, lemon juice, and simple syrup, is a perfect choice at $8. Onsite Watersports Fall Rental Specials
The fun doesn’t stop when summer ends! Since the weather in San Diego is always ideal for water adventures, guests are encouraged to book the Back to School Special with our partners Adventure Water Sports to receive 30 min free with a 1-hour personal watercraft rental. Thanksgiving Feast at Firefly
Come November 23rd, we’ll also be having our annual Thanksgiving feast at Firefly Eatery & Bar, so join us for a tasty turkey dinner! Whether you’re a hotel guest or a local, forget cooking this year – bring the whole family down for a festive feast by the bay. Enjoy Roasted Tom Turkey made with Chef Paul’s sourdough sage stuffing, mashed potato, cranberries, and gravy, Butternut Squash Soup, and Pumpkin Pie served with fresh vanilla ice cream. Yum!
