Guide to Little Italy in San Diego

An Iconically Chic Neighborhood

One of San Diego's most historical neighborhoods, Little Italy was once a fisherman's port and home to many Italian and Portuguese families. Today, the neighborhood has grown into a charming slice of culture and history, perfect for locals and visitors alike. Read on below to discover our favorite Little Italy hidden gems, restaurants, attractions and secrets.

Restaurants

Davanti EnotecaA Pizza Sitting On Top Of A Plate Of Food On A Table

One of our favorite Little Italy restaurants, Davanti Enoteca yields a diverse Italian menu and excellent Happy Hour specials. We encourage all who visit to try the very popular Focaccia Di Recco which is a light and airy flatbread with soft cow's cheese and honeycomb - the combination is truly to-die-for.

Pro tip: Dining with a party of 8-10? Ask for Table 80 and dine in the restaurant's secret dining room for a truly memorable experience.

Bencotto Italian Kitchen

The pasta-bilities are endless at Bencotto, with over 75 different kinds of pasta recipes and your choice of freshly made pasta from their table-side tray, Bencotto is high-ranking in local Italian restaurants - not only in Little Italy - but throughout the city. Their Gnocchi Neri - squid ink infused potato dumplings in a lobster bisque sauce - is incredible.

Pro tip: Their menu boasts a "Special Pasta" which comes in a crispy parmesan cheese bowl - sounds like a winner to us.
