With warm weather even in December, San Diego is a perfect destination for enjoying the holidays. The beaches and coastline are as beautiful as always, and there are lots of seasonal special events. Here's a look at some of what's happening.
SeaWorld San Diego puts on several holiday-themed shows, including the sea lions Clyde and Seamore's Christmas Special and the Dolphin Island Christmas. Meet Rudolph and Santa and explore the Christmas Village. Santa even drops in during the breakfast with orcas.
At the San Diego Zoo, jingle bells turn into Jungle Bells. There are special lights decorations, music, shows, and cold-weather animals in the Northern Frontier's Holiday Forest.
Old Town, where San Diego originated, celebrates the holidays in an old-fashioned way. The Holiday in the Park, on weekends Dec 2-17, features decorations that hark back to the 1800s and a fire on the plaza. The traditional Las Posada, recreating Joseph and Mary's journey, takes place 12/10.
Shopping and Santa
If you haven't found gifts for everyone on your list yet, San Diego's great shopping choices will help you get that task done. The Gaslamp's historic buildings are now fashionable boutiques, while Little Italy's stores offer great choices for the home. At Seaport Village, enjoy a harborfront shopping experience. You can take photos with Santa at Seaport Village and at many of the area's malls, including high-end Fashion Valley.
Quiet Time With Family
Enjoying the holidays doesn't need to mean sightseeing and shopping. The best moments can come in quiet time spent with your family. The Dana on Mission Bay is the perfect setting for family togetherness. Explore Mission Bay Park together, hang out poolside, or enjoy on-site water sports. Pets are welcome at The Dana, so everyone in the family is included in the fun. Click here to make your reservation.
