Cheer on your favorite college football team at one or both of the bowl games held in San Diego over the holidays. The Poinsettia Bowl is 12/21, and the Holiday Bowl is 12/27. Both games are held at Qualcomm Stadium, which is less than 10 miles and 15 minutes from The Dana on Mission Bay.
That means you can spend more time enjoying tailgating and other pre-game activities and less time sitting in traffic. Take a look at how you can make your bowl games full days of fun!
Competition starts two days before the game when San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter's Horton Plaza Park Amphitheater is taken over by the teams' marching bands on 12/19 for a great Battle of the Bands. You can have lunch with the teams on 12/20, plus enjoy a tour of the USS Midway Museum. On game day, head to the stadium early to enjoy a VIP tailgate party with food and entertainment, or enjoy Winterfest, with sledding and giant snow globes. Then head to your seats to enjoy the game. Family-pack tickets include hot dogs and sodas.
The presents are unwrapped, but there's still plenty of holiday fun to be had! Have lunch and interact with the team and coaches on 12/26. The team's marching bands battle that evening. On game day, show off your own athletic ability at the Bumble Bee 5K run/walk. Then catch the end of the Holiday Bowl Parade, the largest balloon parade in the country. Enjoy a VIP tailgate party before the game, or head to FanZone to test your football skills and enjoy San Diego's best food trucks. Then find your seat and settle in for great college ball game action.
After the Game
Game's over? The fun doesn't have to be. Head back to The Dana on Mission Bay for drinks and dinner around a firepit. It's a great location to celebrate your team's win or mourn its loss; either way, after a great night's sleep, you'll be ready to tackle the rest of San Diego's attractions near The Dana on Mission Bay.
