Want to explore San Diego by bicycle? It's a great experience any time, but especially during the 10th annual Bike the Bay ride on August 27. The ride offers great exercise, a fun way to tour several San Diego neighborhoods, and the once-per-year opportunity to pedal over the Coronado Bay Bridge and enjoy the view.
This isn't a race, so you won't feel any pressure to keep up with the pack and can take your time to appreciate the sights along the flat 25 mile route. The ride starts at scenic, waterfront Embarcadero Marina Park and follows the Bayshore Bikeway through the neighborhoods of National City, Chula Vista, Coronado, and Imperial Beach.
There'll be plenty of rest stops along the way, plus the chance to recover post-ride at a festival back in Embarcadero Marina Park with entertainment, a beer garden, and food trucks. It's a great way to spend the day on a healthy exploration of our beautiful city!
Leave room in your suitcase to bring home a souvenir Bike the Bay shirt or hat, but don't worry about fitting your bike into your luggage; you can rent bikes right here at The Dana. If you want to get more mileage into your trip, enjoy a 12-mile bike ride around Mission Bay, but if you'd rather just relax by the pool, that's fine too! You can also celebrate your great ride with drinks at Firefly Eatery.
