There's no better destination for a vacation with the family than San Diego. The beautiful weather and beaches mean plenty of opportunity to play outside, and the nearby theme parks add plenty of thrills. Here's what we think are the best things to do with kids in San Diego:
Play Outside at San Diego Beaches
Our beaches are beautiful, with plenty of opportunity to get into the water. Dip your toes, go for a swim, or try our favorite California sport, surfing. Or stay on shore to build sandcastles and listen to the ocean through a seashell.
Find Thrills at San Diego Theme Parks
You don't have to go far from the beach to find fun rides; Belmont Park, with its Giant Dipper rollercoaster, is adjacent to Mission Beach. SeaWorld is home to nautically-themed rides and exciting animal shows. The dolphin and beluga interaction programs let you personally meet these amazing creatures. There are more thrilling animal encounters at the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park, where your kids can reach up as high as they can to feed the giraffes.
Explore Kid-Friendly Museums
Kids will find plenty of fun in San Diego's museums. The Maritime Museum can get you out on the water on a sailing ship, while the USS Midway Museum and San Diego Air & Space Museum get you up in the air in their flight simulators. There's hands-on science at the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park. And what kid wouldn't want to see the dinosaurs at the San Diego Natural History Museum, or learn the truth about cannibals at the San Diego Museum of Man?
Have Fun at a Kid-Friendly Hotel
The fun is never far away when you stay at The Dana, a San Diego hotel near Mission Bay. Swim in our pool or rent a bicycle, kayak, or paddle boat to have family fun without leaving the property. A visit to our San Diego hotel with your kids is a great way to make family memories.
