Water is central to life in San Diego. In it or on it, we find ways to enjoy the waters at our doorstep. In early April, 4/1-4/2, the waters of Mission Bay (where The Dana is located) are host to the teams of the San Diego Crew Classic.
The event features a wide mix of races, including men's and women's high school, collegiate, and master's teams of various weights and levels. Spectators can head to Crown Point Shores Park to see the action. It's a full weekend sports action, starting at 7:20am and going until 6:30pm on Saturday; Sunday's races end at 3. There's a free preview day on Friday, when teams will be practicing.
Bring binoculars to watch the action on the water, or just glance up at the giant Jumbotron screen. There's a great beer garden and food available throughout the day. Want to get close to the athletes? Buy tix and join in the Pasta Party before the event on Friday, or the Brunch by the Bay on Sunday.
The Dana on Mission Bay is less than 2 miles from the race site, so it's a great place to stay to enjoy the crew classic. Even if you're not a crew team member, you can enjoy being out on the water when you stay with us: we have onsite water sports rentals that offer kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and pedal boats. Or you might prefer diving into the water of our pools.
Our Mission Bay location also gives you easy access to Mission Bay, with a sandy beach and park to walk, bike, barbecue, and play a game of hoops or volleyball. Plus we're near SeaWorld and all the other great attractions of San Diego. Whether you're here to watch the crew classic, enjoy our water, or explore the town, The Dana's location means you'll have more time for fun.
